Ninja Blog
The blog of the ninjaI am the web marketing ninja
For a few years I’ve be writing, presenting at training days, and putting together something I’m quite proud of for Darren and Problogger readers, under the web marketing ninja motif.
A lot of people have asked my why, and it was simply at the time Darren dared me to write, the circumstances were a bit messy, and it was better for me that I didn’t.
So I had a choice, share nothing, or share what I wanted under an alias. Given my inner drive to help others, the web marketing ninja was born. It was actually Georgina who coined it, and perhaps counter to my call-it-as-I-see-it nature, but it still stuck.
Things are a little different now, life moved on, and it occurred to me that there is no real reason why I need to continue with the smoke and mirrors …
It’s time to come out of the closet.
So who’s this person you’ve been reading, ignoring and then doing your own thing …
Well I’m Shayne Tilley, shaynet on twitter.
My story goes way back to days with large banks, energy companies, but significantly changed when I walked through the doors at SitePoint. Back then there were maybe 10 other team members, and 99designs, flippa and learnable hadn’t even been dreamed of.
We achieved a lot in my time there, created new businesses, launched oh so many products and campaigns. It was a wild, but extremely satisfying ride that I look back at with fond memories. I then moved to what’s probably Australia’s biggest software company, MYOB, and, while it’s a great company with great people, it just wasn’t a fit for me.
I’m now embarking on a new and exciting future with a company called Avalanche Technology Group, where I’ll be stirring up some very cool projects (BTW: fixing the website is my first).
My plans are to continue to write for Darren, just under my own name rather than the Ninja’s. I’ll be shutting down the ninja’s twitter, email, and website in a few weeks.
I look forward to sharing a heap more with you this year. Same stuff, just different name.
